Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been one of the best talents in India right now. The flamboyant batter has been in the headlines since the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, where he announced himself in his second season for the Rajasthan Royals. He nearly won every individual award in IPL 2026 for his sensational performance in the cash-rich league.
After his impressive performance in the IPL, he earned a call-up to India A and has been included in the senior side, which is touring Ireland and then England. Apart from that, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was added to the Asian Games 2026 squad as well. The 15-year-old has been criticized after his poor performances in List A games for the Men in Blue.
Let him play his cricket – WV Raman on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Many former cricketers have criticized him; however, former India batter WV Raman urged patience and warned against making premature assumptions about the boy wonder Vaibhav Sooryavanshi following his call-up for the Ireland and England T20I series. The cricketer-turned-commentator also stated that he will learn from his mistakes and let him be left alone and not to pressure him; even if he fails to make runs, he will learn.

WV Raman told PTI, “What we should be doing about Sooryavanshi, in my opinion, or if you were to tell me what I would do with him, is to just let him play his cricket. I would not look too far ahead. I would not look at what he can become, what would he become.”
“I would say that things will pan out. Let’s not take a crystal ball and try and assess Sooryavanshi. Because he’s a guy who’s done well in a couple of years in IPL, and he’s shown that he’s not afraid of taking on the best in the business.”
He will learn on the job – WV Raman
“Yes, as to other things, he will learn on the job. Experience is obviously a tough teacher, because it punishes you first and teaches you the lessons. So along the way, he will be punished by experience, and then he’ll be taught lovely lessons too.”
He further added, “And age is on his side. So like I started with the answer, let me finish by saying, just allow that youngster to play his cricket and get on with his cricket.”
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi failed to score in List A matches
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been on the wrong side of the headlines after a stunning IPL season. The Southpaw was involved in a heated conversation during Sri Lanka A vs India A, where he charged into a physical altercation with Sri Lanka A players after India A lost a match in the super over. Vaibhav replied to something said by one of the players.
After the fight, he was reportedly fined 50 percent of the match fees by the match referee. BCCI decided not to fine Vaibhav Sooryavanshi despite the heated altercation. He got the starts in every match, was out, and could convert them into big scores. However, there has been a pattern of his dismissal, where he has been dismissed more times on bouncers.
