West Indies chose to bowl v South Africa

For the third match in succession, Kieron Pollard won the toss and asked South Africa to bat first in Grenada. The series is locked at 1-1 and West Indies will attempt to take the lead without opener Andre Fletcher and marquee batter Chris Gayle, who were both been benched for this match. Lendl Simmons will partner Evin Lewis at the top of the order and Shimron Hetmeyer was installed at No.3

South Africa’s only change also came in the line-up. Heinrich Klaasen was left out of the XI and Aiden Markram given an opportunity at No.5. Markram’s offspin will also give South Africa a sixth bowling option after they chose not to include a seam-bowling allrounder. George Linde remained the only two-in-one player in the side, which included three specialist quicks and a spinner. This was also Quinton de Kock’s 50th T20.

South Africa will wear black armbands to remember former team manager Goolam Rajah who died of Covid-19 related complications earlier in the day. Both teams will observe a moment of silence followed by their anti-racism gestures before play gets underway.
