The first day of the Sheffield Shield match between Tasmania and New South Wales in Hobart has been abandoned due to heavy rain. The captains are still yet to toss, and play will begin half an hour early on the second and third days of the clash – when better weather is forecast – to make up for lost time.
New South Wales enter this match, which is the final Shield round before a two-month break to accommodate the BBL, on top of the tournament table.
