For the third time in the three-match T20I series, the team winning the toss – Afghanistan in this case – chose to bat first.

Afghanistan made two changes, bringing in the top-order batsman Javed Ahmadi for batting allrounder Samiullah Shenwari, and replacing Dawlat Zadran with Shapoor Zadran in the pace department. West Indies were unchanged, which meant Ronsford Beaton, who was tipped to get a start by head coach Stuart Law, would have to wait to make his debut.

West Indies have already wrapped up the series, having won the first T20I by six wickets and the second, rain-shortened, match by 29 runs (D/L method).

West Indies: 1 Chadwick Walton (wk), 2 Evin Lewis, 3 Marlon Samuels, 4 Lendl Simmons, 5 Jason Mohammed, 6 Rovman Powell, 7 Carlos Brathwaite (capt), 8 Sunil Narine, 9 Jerome Taylor, 10 Samuel Badree, 11 Kesrick Williams.

Afghanistan: 1 Gulbadin Naib, 2 Noor Ali Zadran, 3 Asghar Stanikzai (capt), 4 Javed Ahmadi, 5 Mohammad Nabi, 6 Karim Janat, 7 Shafiqullah (wk), 8 Najibullah Zadran, 9 Rashid Khan, 10 Shapoor Zadran, 11 Amir Hamza.
