Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel has been selected to lead the India Blue and India Red teams for the upcoming Deodhar Trophy matches. Tamil Nadu earned the right to be the third team in the tournament, after they clinched the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Monday.

It has been less than a month since Rohit returned to competitive cricket after thigh surgery. He made 4 and 16 for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His last International match, against New Zealand in October 2016, featured a match-winning 70. Among the other notable players on the India Blue roster were batsman Shreyas Iyer, offspinner Harbhajan Singh, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem and 19-year old wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

Rohit’s long-time opening partner Shikhar Dhawan was part of the India Red squad, which also has middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav, who received high praise from India captian Virat Kohli during the recent ODI series against England.

The Deodhar Trophy was set to begin on March 25 and would continue until March 29 in Visakhapatnam.
