After every round of Specsavers County Championship fixtures ecb.co.uk will be running a poll to see who you believe has produced the outstanding performance of the week.

Below are the nominees from week two.

Jonny Bairstow – Yorkshire

With Yorkshire struggling on 41 for three on day one of their Specsavers County Championship Division One match against Hampshire, Bairstow helped the defending champions recover with an unbeaten century.

The England wicketkeeper-batsman would then go on to smack a career-best 246 in the first innings as he continued his strong form from Yorkshire’s title-winning campaign as honours were even between the two sides at Headingley.

Sam Robson – Middlesex

Robson stamped his name into the record books, and possibly into the plans of the national selectors, as he would hit a new personal best of 231 in Middlesex’s first innings against Warwickshire before he stroked another century to become the first Middlesex player to achieve this feat.

The former England batsman’s historical innings would see Middlesex hold out for a draw at Lord’s.

Neil Wagner  – Lancashire

A memorable Lancashire debut saw Wagner claim a match haul of 11-111 to guide his side to an impressive eight-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire. The New Zealand left-armer’s heroics also made history as his first-inning figures of 6-66 were the best by a bowler making his Lancashire first-class debut since 1923.

Liam Norwell   – Gloucestershire

The 24-year-old seamer, who usually bats at number 11, was installed as Gloucestershire’s nightwatchman as his side looked to reply to Derbyshire’s 444.

Norwell, alongside Chris Dent, went on to hit 14 fours and three sixes to claim a brilliant maiden first-class century, eclipsing his previous best score of 78 in 2014 as both sides settled for a draw.
