Masakadza leads from the front

Skipper Hamilton Masakadza smashed an unbeaten 68 to lead Zimbabwe to a six-wicket victory over Ireland in an ICC World Twenty20 warm-up match in Dharamsala.

The opening batsman’s 49-ball knock, which contained three fours and half-a-dozen maximums, helped his side reach their victory target of 156 with 13 balls to spare.

Masakadza shared an opening stand of 46 with Vusi Sibanda, who made 18, while Richmond Mutumbami weighed in with 29 off 18 deliveries.

Ireland were restricted to 155 for eight after Zimbabwe won the toss.

Will Porterfield and Gary Wilson hit 31 and 38 respectively, but a middle-order collapse hampered their progress.
