Van der Gugten signs for Glamorgan

Glamorgan have signed Netherlands international Timm van der Gugten on a three-year deal.

The Dutch fast bowler has played in four one-day internationals and 19 international Twenty20 matches for the Netherlands including their memorable 45-run victory over England at the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 where he claimed the wicket of Eoin Morgan.

His first-class debut came in 2011 for New South Wales and since 2012 he has been playing for Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes, in addition to appearing for Northern Districts in the domestic T20 competition in New Zealand.

“We are delighted to have secured Timm’s services for at least the next three seasons to strengthen our seam bowling attack,” said Hugh Morris, Glamorgan Chief Executive and Director of Cricket.

“He is a talented quick bowler who has stood out for Netherlands and has the potential to forge a successful county career with Glamorgan.”

Van der Gugten was born and grew up in Sydney and represented New South Wales through the junior ranks before making his Sheffield Shield debut in 2011.

“I am thrilled to be joining Glamorgan,” Van der Gugten added, “I have always been keen to play county cricket and I am pleased to have joined such an ambitious and passionate.”
