Edwards and Knight recognised for WBBL displays

England skipper Charlotte Edwards and vice-captain Heather Knight have both been recognised for their performances in the inaugural Women’s Big Bash League with places in the team of the tournament.

Perth Scorcher Edwards and Knight, a Hobart Hurricane, have helped their respective franchises into the semi-finals with impressive displays.

The Scorchers finished fourth in the 14-game standings, setting up a last-four clash against table-topping Sydney Thunder tomorrow, with 444 runs at an average of 44.40.

Second behind only Meg Lanning in the run charts, Edwards has hit form at the right time and racked up 354 of her runs at 70.8 in her last eight innings.

Knight’s Hurricanes finished second in the table, meaning they will play third-placed Sydney Sixers in the semis on Friday.

Knight, the Hurricanes skipper, has performed with both bat and ball.

The opening batter has struck 347 runs at 24.78, the sixth most in the competition, and took 17 wickets at 15.52 with her off-spin.
