Elton Chigumbura won his fourth consecutive toss and as had been the trend of the series, chose to bat in the decider in Sharjah. He was “hoping to put more runs on the board”.

Zimbabwe went with the same team that leveled the series in the fourth ODI, while Afghanistan brought back the experienced Nawroz Mangal and allrounder Gulbadin Naib in place of Karim Sadiq and Shafiqullah.
