Watch: Yashasvi Jaiswal catches Nitish Kumar Reddy running late before 2nd Afghanistan ODI

A friendly banter between two Team India stars, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Ahead of India’s second of the third ODI against Afghanistan, a video featuring both Jaiswal and Reddy goes viral across social media platforms.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was teasing his teammate Nitish Kumar Reddy as he reached a little bit late in the spot. Jaiswal was waiting outside in a white SUV for Nitish Kumar Reddy. While Jaiswal was waiting on the spot, Reddy arrived late, which caused a funny interaction between them.

Through the video, we can see Jaiswal teasing Reddy for being late. The emerging opener told the pace bowling all-rounder that he had been waiting for about 10 minutes. To cover up the time and tease Reddy a little more, Jaiswal moved quickly towards the car and opened the gate so they could get into the car quickly. “Come on, I’m even opening the door for you,” Yashasvi Jaiswal told this to Nitish Kumar Reddy.

After securing a massive win in the one-off Test against Afghanistan, Team India claimed a clinical win against them in the first ODI match as well. In the rain-curtailed match in Dharamshala, skipper Shubman Gill was on song. KL Rahul came as the number 5 batter and played an explosive knock to secure the win.

Reddy will have to take a major role

The second match will be on June 17, in Lucknow, at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium. Nitish Kumar Reddy will have to play another crucial role in the series as Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the entire ODI contest against Afghanistan. In the absence of Pandya, Reddy is the only seam bowling all-rounder in the team.

Nitish Kumar Reddy was good in the previous match as he took a couple of wickets. After going wicketless in his first four matches in the format, the all-rounder got his first wicket in his fifth match since making his debut in the One Day International format. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the batter who became the first batter to lose his wicket against the emerging Indian all-rounder in the ODIs.

Gurbaz played a record-breaking hundred-plus runs knock against India before being castled by Reddy. A pinpoint yorker by the seamer dismissed the in-form batter. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored the fastest ever century for the Afghanistan national cricket team. He needed only 48 balls to complete the hundred.

The 48-ball ton was the second fastest century against India in the format as well. Former South Africa batter Hasim Amla is a batter who still holds the record for smashing the fastest century against the Men in Blue in the ODIs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was on the bench

On the other side, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has joined the team as the replacement for injured Virat Kohli, was on the bench for the first match of the ongoing series. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were batters who opened for India. In the second match too, Sharma and Gill are expected to open the innings.
