
India’s U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup-winning spinner, Vaishnavi Sharma, who went unsold in the WPL mega-auction, has bagged her first-ever WPL contract midway through the WPL 2026 season for the Mumbai indians.
The Women’s Premier League is into its fourth edition, and the teams had their playing squads revamped with several newer additions and key players from other sides moving to other franchises. Currently, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru women, who won the WPL in 2024, are at the top of the points table.
Vaishnavi Sharma bags debut contract in the WPL
Mumbai Indians have faced a massive blow as their player, G. Kamalini, has been ruled out of the remainder of the WPL season with an injury.
Vaishnavi Sharma, the 20-year-old youngster, has played for India in the U19 World Cup and was a leading wicket-taker in that edition, and then went on to make her debut for India. Playing 5 matches for India, she picked 5 wickets in senior-level Women’s cricket as well.
Finally, the young spinner has bagged a debut contract with the Mumbai Indians for INR 30 lakh.
