Shreyanka Patil RULED OUT? India spinner suffers horrific injury during ICC Women's T20 World Cup

The India Women’s National Cricket Team has been playing the Netherlands National Cricket Team in match no.10 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. During the match, India Women’s cricketer Shreyanka Patil was taken off the field on a stretcher. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) spinner fell awkwardly on the field while bowling.

This is a serious concern for the Women in Blues, as she has been a fantastic performer with the ball. Shreyanka Patil twisted her ankle while fielding during the match. She was seen in visible pain after awkwardly landing while chasing the ball near the midwicket region. The team physio rushed onto the field to assess her condition as play was briefly halted.

Shreyanka Patil ruled out?

The incident occurred after the batter nudged the ball into the leg side, with Shreyanka Patil attempting to prevent additional runs before suffering the injury. She is unable to stand on her right leg and has to be stretchered away in a buggy. It was really disappointing to watch. She had been out for more than a year due to several injuries.

Shreyanka Patil returned to the WPL this season and was eager to perform well in this competition. The team will hopefully believe that the injury is not as severe as it seems. As India Women face South Africa in their next game, they also have Australia in their group.

Coming to the match were asked to bat first after the Netherlands won the toss, and opted to bowl first, India posted a massive total of 209/5 in their 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma started well for India as they stitched a partnership of 115 runs, both batters smashing fifties, scoring 74 and 55 respectively.

While chasing, the Dutch side had a decent start and lost three wickets. They will love to try to get as close as possible or even upset Harmanpreet Kaur’s side. Now they are batting on the score of 77/3.
