The complaint was filed at the Sasni Gate police station after a controversial AI-generated video linked to his Facebook account went viral and caused widespread outrage.

The video shows the Indian batter hitting a six on the cricket field. Soon after, it cuts to AI-created visuals where Hindu gods are shown sitting inside a car, wearing sunglasses, and driving away while an English song plays in the background.

Such videos are common on social media, but this one went viral extremely fast because it was connected to a popular Indian cricketer. As the video reached a massive audience, it triggered strong reactions from religious groups, especially Karni Sena.

Viral AI video triggers religious backlash

Members of the Karni Sena in the Aligarh district strongly objected to the portrayal of Hindu gods in a modern and casual style. They accused Rinku of hurting religious sentiments and demanded strict action against him.

The issue escalated quickly and soon reached the police. The complaint claims that showing gods wearing sunglasses and appearing in a playful manner is disrespectful and unacceptable.

The Karni Sena also took offense to the use of English music along with religious imagery, saying such content deeply hurt public sentiments and crossed religious boundaries.

Karni Sena calls Rinku Singh ‘Jihadi’

The backlash was such that Karni Sena district president Sumit Tomar called Rinku a ‘Jihadi.’

Sumit Tomar was quoted as saying by The Week: “Making our deities wear glasses and dance to English songs will not be tolerated. Rinku Singh should publicly apologize to Sanatan Dharma.”

The video also included text that suggested that the left-handed batter’s success came because of God’s blessings. Many believe the message was meant to show faith and gratitude for his journey in cricket. However, the way the message was presented created anger instead of appreciation.

Police have now started preliminary investigations into the matter. They are trying to find out where the video was created and who edited it. Authorities are also checking whether Rinku personally made the video or if it was shared without fully understanding its impact.

The authenticity of the content and its source remain under investigation. This controversy comes at a very important time in the KKR star’s career. He is currently part of India’s T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series against New Zealand. The batter is also included in India’s ICC T20 World Cup 2026 plans, making the situation even more serious for him.

Rinku is widely known for his humble background and inspiring rise in Indian cricket. Because of this, the controversy has shocked many fans. The incident also highlighted how AI-generated content and social media posts can trigger a major problem when they involve religion, technology, and public figures.
