The England National Cricket Team is currently playing in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is happening in England and Wales. During the 10th edition of the competition, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the squad for the upcoming one-off Test between England Women’s National Cricket Team and India Women’s National Cricket Team.
The team was announced on Thursday late afternoon, with Nat Sciver-Brunt becoming the first English cricketer to lead out her team in a Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, London. This is the first time any woman’s international Test match will be hosted at this venue, and it will be a surreal moment for both nations’ cricketers to have played at this ground.

Alice Capsey, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, and Mady Villiers are the new names that have been added to the squad and will be hoping to make their Test debuts, while Grace Potts and Ellie Threlkeld earn their first international cap in any format.
This is a relatively new squad from the last Test match, as five of seven players in the team did not play in England’s most recent Women’s Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCC) in January last year, and Lancashire’s Emma Lamb and Warwickshire’s Issy Wong are also added to the squad.
We have selected a strong Test squad- Clare Connor, ECB’s Managing Director of Women’s Cricket
ECB’s Managing Director of Women’s Cricket, Clare Connor, commented on the team selection. She said: “We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord’s for women’s cricket.“
“Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women’s game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format. For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord’s, it will be a moment to savour.”
ECB keeps a close eye on Nat Sciver-Brunt
England women’s captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has suffered a left calf muscle strain, as it is the same place as her previous injury. The injury occurred while batting against Ireland Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup group match in Southampton on Tuesday.
She is expected to be out for two games as ECB will continue to be monitored and assessed by the England medical team as she undertakes her rehab while remaining in the squad. Vice-captain Charlie Dean will be taking on the responsibility in Nat Sciver-Brunt’s absence during the next two matches. However, as the former has been named as captain of the Test side ECB is hopeful she will be back soon.
