India’s playing XI vs Ireland: Every change since the T20 World Cup 2026 final
Shreyas Iyer replaces Suryakumar Yadav as the India captain post the T20 World Cup. The latter’s poor run of form and age catching up, and Shreyas’ excellent form, made the selectors take a tough call and drop SKY from the leadership role and also from the squad.
Apart from Shreyas, Harshit Rana replaces Varun Chakravarthy from the final squad, as the latter is still recovering from the toe injury he suffered during the IPL 2026 while playing for KKR. Rana returns to the side after missing out on the IPL and the T20 World Cup. This is a crucial time for the pace bowling all-rounder.
Washington Sundar replaces Hardik Pandya, who has been ruled out of the series citing a quadriceps strain and fitness concerns. This will be a big miss as Pandya’s bowling with the new ball and experience in the middle overs with the bat will be missing.
Prasidh Krishna comes in place of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been given rest, provided the workload management. Krishna had a decent IPL, but bowled well in the recently concluded ODI series vs Afghanistan.
