The fate of the India vs Pakistan Group A clash at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 took yet another fresh turn as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has demanded clear answers from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over their controversial and politically influenced decision.
ICC questions PCB’s decision on India vs Pakistan clash at T20 World Cup 2026
As reported by News19, the ICC has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to explain how the “Force Majeure” clause can be used to skip only one match while still taking part in the rest of the T20 World Cup 2026 in the same country—Sri Lanka.
The global body wants clarity on why the PCB decided to withdraw only from the India vs. Pakistan fixture if the decision was truly based on government instructions.

Earlier, the PCB informed the ICC that it would not face India on February 15 in Colombo. They cited a government tweet that reportedly stopped the team from facing India at the mega event.
Force Majeure claim raises big doubts
Using this message, the PCB attempted to activate the ‘Force Majeure’ clause, which is meant for situations beyond a national team’s control. However, this explanation has raised serious questions.
The ICC is trying to understand why Pakistan remains available for all other matches in the tournament and now seeks a detailed response from the PCB. After receiving the ICC’s formal notice, the PCB reached out to the governing body to continue talks over the situation.
Discussions are currently ongoing, with the ICC stressing that decisions affecting the tournament must protect the spirit of the game and the competition as a whole. Now, all eyes are on the outcome of the discussions where they are trying to find a solution.
