The entire nation is pumped up for another India vs Pakistan cricket match. Tonight, the Indian Women’s cricket team will be up against the Pakistan Women’s cricket team at Edgbaston, Birmingham, for a group stage match of the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 tournament.
Ahead of the much-awaited T20 World Cup clash, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shares a special video on the official ‘X’ account. Through the video, the Indian Men’s cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir, ODI skipper Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and the newly appointed T20I captain Shreyas Iyer have tried to inspire the Women’s team through their words of wisdom and experience.
Every time you’re in doubt, take the positive route: Gautam Gambhir
Head coach Gautam Gambhir profoundly believes that the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team will definitely make crores of Indian cricket fans proud. He mentioned that they are among the few selectives who are selected for the match. Gautam Gambhir advises the Indian Women’s cricket team not to fear giving advice and asks them to always keep a positive approach.
“I’m sure that you’re going to make 140 crore Indian proud. Not many people get the opportunity to represent the country on the world stage. Don’t be scared of making a mistake. Every time you’re in doubt, take the positive route. Good luck, bring the cup home,” Gautam Gambhir said through the video.
Best wishes from all of us: Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma, the former India captain under whose leadership the Men in Blue captured the 2024 T20 World Cup and came close to winning the ODI World Cup as well, points out that in the past, the women’s cricket team came very close to touching the glory in the format.
But they can accomplish the unfinished business now as they did well in the recent past. Sharma has a strong belief that with a well-balanced and solid core, Kaur and Co. have all the elements to make a positive cut in this year’s T20 World Cup.
“They’ve been playing really good cricket for the past few years now. I know in T20 cricket they’ve come very close, but I want this time around to go all the way. Everyone’s rooting for them. They have a solid team, a very well-balanced team. And they’ll enjoy playing in England. Best wishes from all of us here in Men’s Team India,” Rohit Sharma said.
