The Bangladesh National Cricket Team will be up against the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team for a full tour, a one-off Test, which is currently going on, followed by a three-match ODI series, and then three T20I matches. Ahead of the ODI series, Bangla Tigers have been struck with a setback; the T20I captain Litton Das has already been ruled out of the Test match.
Apart from missing the Test, Litton Das, who was expected to start the ODI series, will also be missing the first ODI match. He is not fit to play the first ODI in Zimbabwe, scheduled for July 6, but should be able to play the next two games, on July 9 and 11, respectively.
“We are expecting him to recover by the end of the third week”- Bayzedul Islam Khan on Litton Das’ injury
Bangladesh team physio Bayzedul Islam Khan has informed that he is suffering from a Grade I calf muscle injury. Islam also informed that Litton will take two to three weeks to recover fully from the injury, and the management is expecting him to recover by the end of the third week.
“Litton Das is suffering from an injury in his left calf muscle. It’s a Grade I injury. It usually takes two to three weeks to recover from an injury like that. Two weeks have already passed. We are expecting him to recover by the end of the third week,” Bayzedul said.
“The possibility of him playing in the first ODI is almost nil, but he should be able to play in the second and third ODIs if he can meet all the parameters of our fitness test.”
Litton Das is to be fit for the 2nd ODI
Team manager Nafees Iqbal confirmed Litton’s arrival in Zimbabwe on July 1. The remainder of the squad is already in Zimbabwe. Despite not being fully fit, Litton Das has been allowed to join the ODI squad for the three-match series in Zimbabwe, which would follow the existing one-off Test.
Das last played in the ODI series against Australia at home in mid-June, but he missed the next three-match T20I series, which Bangladesh lost 3-0, and was also ruled out of the Zimbabwe Test. He will also miss the T20I series, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already provided a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to him and Taskin Ahmed to play in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Bangladesh bowled out for 140 runs
Apart from that, skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz has also returned to the ODI squad after missing the third match against Australia after suffering a concussion. He was earlier rested from the Test side travelling to Zimbabwe.
In the one-off Test, Zimbabwe has bowled visitors Bangladesh out for just 140 runs, with Newman Nyamhuri taking four wickets in the first innings, and now the Chevrons have taken an 86-run lead, as Innocent Kaia has scored a brilliant hundred.
