During the India vs England 1st T20I at Durham, the Men in Blue side won the toss and opted to bat first on a wicket that had some grass on it. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s much-anticipated debut did not happen as India went with their regular openers, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, in the match. The former was dismissed early yet again.

However, Abhishek Sharma continued the charge as he created a milestone in the match as he became the fastest to complete 100 sixes in T20I history. The Southpaw achieved the record in the 3.6th over after he struck a short ball from Saqib Mahmood into the stands. This is a huge milestone for the 2nd-ranked T20I batter.

Abhishek Sharma took the fewest balls to reach the 100 sixes record. He took 785 balls, as he surpassed the West Indies batter Evin Lewis, who had done it in 789 balls. Abhishek gave India a solid start after the two quick wickets. He started his firing from the very first ball and looked in sensational form.

Ahead of the game, Abhishek slipped down from the top spot to the 2nd position in the T20I batting rankings, with Ishan Kishan taking the top spot. However, he gave a strong response, scoring a fiery half-century in the match. The left-handed opener scored a fifty in 20 balls and broke another record.

Abhishek Sharma and Shreyas Iyer gave India a solid foundation

Abhishek Sharma now has the quickest by an Indian in England in T20Is. The previous fastest was KL Rahul’s 27-ball fifty at Manchester in 2018. He was dismissed on the score of 59 runs off 24 deliveries, smashing 6 fours and 4 sixes in his fiery innings.

Abhishek and skipper Shreyas Iyer stitched a partnership of 82 runs off 38 deliveries, as the Men in Blue recovered well in the match after losing Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan early, as the score was 6/2 at one stage. Shreyas has been the anchor and has been batting on the score of 39 runs off 29 balls.
