Graeme Swann admits England to face huge challenge against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Former England spinner Graeme Swann has made a big prediction about India’s teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ahead of the five-match T20I series, starting July 1 in Durham. After missing a chance on the Ireland tour, fans are now hoping that the young batting sensation will finally get his long-awaited India debut on the England tour.

The Men in Blue are also under pressure going into the five-match T20I series after suffering an embarrassing T20I series 0-2 whitewash at the hands of Ireland. As the entire lineup failed, many demand Vaibhav’s selection in the India XI for the T20I series in England. However, Daryll Cullinan fears early fame could derail Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s career.

Graeme Swann predicts big Vaibhav Sooryavanshi trouble for England

Graeme Swann warned the England national cricket team by predicting that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could become one of the toughest batters for the hosts to stop if he gets a chance to make his much-awaited debut in the upcoming T20I series. But Suryansh Shedge reveals Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s biggest strength.

Even though the left-hander has not played international cricket yet, Swann said it is not easy to make plans against a dangerous player like Vaibhav. The former spinner admitted the fact that England have videos of his batting, but he feels watching videos alone will not help much because very few bowlers have been able to trouble Vaibhav during the IPL 2026.

Swann said on JioStar: “It’s hard to prepare for a player like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He is still new to international cricket, but he has already played two IPL seasons. That means there is video footage available. Some of the England bowlers may have bowled to him in the IPL. But the truth is, no one has really had much success against him so far. He has looked almost unplayable.”

Graeme Swann picks Jofra Archer as England’s biggest hope against Vaibhav

The former England spinner believes that only one England bowler has a slight advantage over the rest, and he is Jofra Archer. Since both were part of the Rajasthan Royals setup in the IPL, Archer has watched Vaibhav from close quarters and bowled to him in the practice nets, so he understands his game better than the other England bowlers and can give him a tough time.

Swann signed off by saying, “The one bowler who might have a slight advantage is Jofra Archer. He has seen Sooryavanshi from the dugout, bowled to him in the nets, and watched him closely. He has probably seen more of him than anyone else.”

Sarandeep Singh demands Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s India debut

Meanwhile, former India selector Sarandeep Singh has backed Vaibhav to make his India debut in the first T20I against England in Durham on Wednesday. The teenage batting sensation did not get a single match in Ireland, so he now deserves his chance in the playing XI.

Sarandeep was quoted as saying by PTI: “He should have played (against Ireland). The team management has to see how it should place him in the playing eleven. Sometimes tough calls have to be made. Give some senior players rest and he might get his opportunity. If you are building the team for the future, then a rotation policy must come into play. Then you have to sit some players out and give them an opportunity.”
