Bangladesh announce T20I squad for Zimbabwe; Towhid Hridoy to continue as captain

The Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh one-off Test has ended with the Chevrons getting a massive victory over an in-form Bangladesh side at the Harare Sports Club, Harare. Richard Ngarava, on his captaincy debut, led the side to their highest victory margin as they won the match by an innings and 85 runs, marking a new start for the Zimbabwe side.

Now, the ODI series is lined up between both nations, as they will face each other in a three-match ODI series starting from Monday, July 6 at Harare Sports Club, Harare. Ahead of the ODI series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced the squad for the T20I series, which is followed by the 50-over format.

Towhid Hridoy to lead Bangladesh against Zimbabwe

The Bangladesh National Cricket Team have named Towhid Hridoy as the captain for the series, with Litton Das to be absent during the series for his commitment to the Lanka Premier League (LPL). Litton has been leading the side in the shortest format of the game since 2025. Hridoy will lead the charge for the first time with the national team away from home.

Towhid Hridoy has led the side previously in the Australia series as well. Though he did not have the best of series, as the Aussies clean-swept the Bangla Tigers 3-0 in the series. However, Hridoy will be looking forward to the new challenges and might have learnt from his mistakes as a captain in the first series.

Why Litton Das is not playing T20I series?

Litton Das has been out since the T20I series from Australia after he picked up a Grade 1 left calf muscle injury during the third ODI against Australia and completely missed the T20I series. Now he has been recovering from the injury and is set to travel to Zimbabwe for the ODI series.

However, he will not be available for the 1st ODI, as confirmed by Team Manager Nafees Iqbal. Despite not being fully fit, Litton Das has been allowed to join the ODI squad for the three-match series in Zimbabwe. However, due to the LPL, he will miss the series, as BCB has already provided an NOC to the experienced batter.
