Wasim Jaffer blasts India batters: The India National Cricket Team shockingly lost a T20I series after three years. The T20 World Cup 2026 champions lost to the Ireland National Cricket Team. Lorcan Tucker’s side cleaned sweep the Men in Blue 2-0, marking their first series victory over India across formats. After the loss, Shreyas Iyer and Gautam Gambhir have been questioned by former cricketers.
India’s next assignment is against the England National Cricket Team, with the 5-match T20I series set to start on Wednesday in Durham. Ahead of that, Shreyas Iyer’s side has already reached England and has been doing their practice sessions. Former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener Wasim Jaffer has now shared his opinion on India’s loss to Ireland.
“We should have adapted”- Wasim Jaffer slams India batters after loss to Ireland
Wasim Jaffer, while speaking on his YouTube channel, stated that Shreyas Iyer and his boys failed to adapt to the conditions even after losing the first game, which was one of the concerns for the Men in Blue to lose the series.
“What are you expecting? Obviously, as Ireland is playing at home, it is expected that the home team will know about the conditions and the dimensions. It is nothing new. We should have adapted. We are the world champions and one of the best in the world.”
“The first game is understandable. Still, it is not an excuse. But in the second game also if you lose, you can say whatever you want. A terrific performance from Ireland, but for us, this is a shameful loss,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“India have amazing talent in white-ball”- Wasim Jaffer points out India’s talent pool
Wasim Jaffer also pointed out the fact that the T20 World champions, the selection of the team was not the factor for losing, as the team collectively should have performed well. This comes after several experts and former cricketers pointed out not playing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the series.
“I think India have amazing talent in white-ball and we keep saying this, so whoever you pick, you expect them to perform. So I would not talk a lot about the selection. You expected the guys to deliver, no matter who it is. We have at least 25 players who are expected to perform as they are terrific talents.”
“But somehow they could not deliver. It seems like we have become too used to flat wickets, and when there is slight movement, we cannot adapt. It was seen in these conditions. Adaptability could have been better,” he expressed.
“It is has been an absolutely shocking performance”- Wasim Jaffer calls India’s loss as shock
Wasim Jaffer also stated that the loss in the first T20I was a wake-up call, but losing the series was unexpected. He saw India’s series defeat as an incredibly unexpected performance, given that they were the world champions; they will look to bounce back in the upcoming series.
“Ireland shocked us. Surprise is a very normal word. I thought the first game was a wake-up call, but defeating a world champion team in the series, that was not expected, that was a big shock. Right after the World Cup, this is the first series we are playing, and it is has been an absolutely shocking performance,” he said.
