Australians have been hit with injuries, and it only continues as they advance through the tournament. Marcus Stoinis was one of the most crucial parts of the Australian lineup, and a nasty blow to his left hand has forced him to walk off the ground even before completing his over.

Australia are taking on Zimbabwe in their second ICC T20 World Cup 2026 clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium, and the African underdogs have staged a tough fight with the bat. Marcus Stoinis took up the new ball for Australia in the game and picked up a wicket as well, as per his reputation as a renowned all-rounder.

Australians failed to pick wickets in the middle overs. Adam Zampa and Matt Kuhnemann, the two spinners alongside Glenn Maxwell, could not pick wickets as Ryan Burl and Brian Bennett held onto the innings with a half-century partnership.

Marcus Stoinis was called in to bowl the 16th over of the game in the hope of a breakthrough. Stoinis bowled well; however, he was smacked back past his head for a boundary on the fourth ball of the over. Another full toss on the very next delivery was hit straight back, and Stoinis failed to judge it, as the ball struck sharply above his left hand’s metacarpals.

Stoinis was immediately seen holding his hand and called in for the physio. He stayed until the physio rushed in, then walked out of the ground, with Cameron Green stepping in to bowl the final ball of the over.

Cameron Green picked a wicket as Marcus Stoinis’ replacement

Marcus Stoinis walked out of the field after being hit by the ball which was travelling after being hit by Ryan Burl. Cameron Green the Australian all-rounder who had bowled just one over until then was handed the ball to bowl the final delivery of the over.

Green delivered the final ball in and around the off stump line and Burl despite the brief pause tried to drag the ball to the left-side with a pull shot. The ball took a leading edge of his bat and was caught sharply
