Barbados Tridents is one of the franchises that were born with the inauguration of Caribbean Premier League in the year 2013. This franchise represents the Barbados in the CPL and is one of those team who have seen all phase of the CPL. The team plays its home matches in Kensington Oval located in Barbados. The team has won the CPL as well has been knocked out of the tournament in failing to qualify from the league stage.
Participation in Caribbean Premier League
In 2013 the team won 4 out of 7 matches and qualified to the playoffs in the inaugural tournament. After qualifying for the semifinals the team lost it against the team from Jamaica the Jamaica Tallawahs by 7 wickets and was knocked out of the tournament.
In 2014 the Tridents finished the league stage topping the table. They won 6 matches out of 9 qualifying directly to finals of the tournament. the Guyana Amazon Warriors came face to face against the Tridents in the final but it was Tridents who emerged as champions to lift their maiden title.
In 2015 yet again the defending champions showed their class and topped the table in league stages. Like the year 2014 they once again moved to the finals directly. This time around story was different as Trinbago Knight Riders took on the Tridents challenge as emerged victorious thus Tridents ended up as Runners-up.
2016 was a year that the franchise and the fans would like to forget as the team failed to qualify to the playoffs as they ended up 5th in the league table. During the league stages the team managed to win only 3 matches out of 10 which was below par performance.

The Tridents have reached the finals twice in the year 2014 and 2015. This was made possible as they topped the league both the times. Out of these two times the team has won the championship only once in the year 2014.
