Khalid Latif refuses to appear before PCB’s tribunal

The suspended cricketer in PSL spot-fixing case, Khalid Latif has refused to appear before the PCB s anti-corruption tribunal, citing concerns about the eligibility of the the tribunal’s head Justice (retd) Asghar Haider

Cricketer Khalid Latif did not appear before the Anti-corruption Tribunal of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), probing the spot-fixing scandal reported during the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) held in Dubai early this year, on Tuesday.

PCB’s lawyer said Khalid sent an email claiming that he did not receive the order of the one-man disciplinary tribunal of Fazal Miran Chohan, who in his order has rejected Khalid’s objection against the head of the anti-corruption tribunal Justice Asghar Rizvi, allowing the justice to continue hearing.

The attorney further said Khalid had to undergo cross-examining on Tuesday but he did not appear.

He said Khalid had also claimed that he received the order for appearing before the tribunal late therefore he could not attend hearing.

The counsel added that the tribunal adjourned Khalid’s hearing until July 11 and from then on it will be held on daily basis.

About the next hearing of Sharjeel Khan and Nasir Jamshed, he said it will be held on July 7.

He added former cricketer Aaqib Javed will appear as a prosecution witness in Sharjeel’s case.
