Zaheer Khan, the Delhi Daredevils captain, won the toss at the Wankhede Stadium and made Mumbai Indians bat first for the first time since their first game of the tournament. Mumbai lost that match, to Rising Pune Supergiants, and have won four out of four since then, chasing each time.
The chasing team has won each of the first three matches at the Wankhede this season.
Daredevils made three changes to their XI, giving the South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada his IPL debut and bringing back Corey Anderson and Aditya Tare. Sam Billings, Angelo Mathews and Jayant Yadav missed out as a result.
Mumbai only made one change, with Mitchell Johnson replacing Lasith Malinga, who conceded 58 and 51 from his four overs in his last two matches.
