Former Yorkshire seamer Ben Sanderson has signed a two-year deal with Northamptonshire.
The 27-year-old graduated through the academy at Headingley and made 17 first-team appearances until he was released in September 2011.
He took time out of the first-class game to work on a family business and represent Shropshire in Minor Counties, but returned to the county scene with Northants in 2015.
Sanderson played three times in County Championship Division Two and once in the Royal London One-Day Cup and, having taken 10 wickets, has now secured a deal at Northants.
“I’m really looking forward to this season,” Sheffield-born Sanderson said. “I have a different relationship with cricket now and I enjoy it so much more.
“I started coming to Northampton for the odd net session in 2013 and that’s when I started chatting to the coaches here. We kept in touch frequently and I made my first appearances last season.”
Sanderson was also given a chance to impress for Northants in the rain-affected tour match against Australia last August, returning figures of 1-21 from 13 overs.
“The Aussie tour match had to be a highlight but it was good to spend time with all the lads and the coaches so I feel like I’ve started this new season as one of the boys already,” he added.
