Dawlat Zadran hit both balls he faced for six as Afghanistan clinched a dramatic victory over Oman in their Asia Cup qualifying contest.
Afghanistan had lost their opening game against the United Arab Emirates by 16 runs, while Oman beat Hong Kong yesterday by five runs after a controversial mankad dismissal, but both sides saw their fortunes reversed as Afghanistan won by three wickets .
Half-centuries from Zeeshan Maqsood and Asnan Ilyas had guided Oman to 165 for four in Fatullah.
Noor Ali Zadran thrashed 63 from 44 balls in response, but when Samiullah Shenwari fell to the first ball of Ajay Lalcheta’s final over with 10 still required, Oman looked favourites.
But Zadran cleared the ropes with the next two balls to leave the qualifying group wide open.
