Farrant replaces injured Brunt

Yorkshire fast bowler Katherine Brunt has been ruled out of the remainder of England women’s tour of South Africa due to a back injury.

Brunt, who only bowled five overs during England women’s second One-Day International against South Africa after suffering from a back spasm, will return to the UK at the start of next week to undergo further investigation and start a rehabilitation programme.  She is expected to be available for selection for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in India next month.

Kent left-arm seamer Natasha Farrant will replace Brunt in the England women’s squad for the remainder of the tour.  She will arrive in South Africa with Natalie Sciver on Sunday (14th February), in time for the start of the three-match Twenty20 International series, which gets underway in Paarl 18th February.
