Queensland’s bowlers picked up 10 wickets on a good batting pitch on the final day at Adelaide Oval to secure a 173-run victory over South Australia. Set an unlikely 418 to win, the Redbacks made a solid start through a 69-run opening partnership between Mark Cosgrove and Tom Cooper, but regular wickets after that kept Queensland on top.
Peter George got rid of both openers, Cosgrove for 33 and Cooper for 34, and it was a sign of what was to come for South Australia. Every batsman other than the No.11 reached double figures, but nobody managed a half-century as James Hopes (2 for 20), legspinner Mitch Swepson (3 for 110) and the rest of the Queensland bowlers proved effective.
Joe Mennie top scored with 43 but the Redbacks were bowled out for 244 in the 75th over, handing a strong win to the Bulls, who had set the match up with their 6 for 474 in the first innings.
