Derbyshire have completed a deal with their record-breaking teenage wicketkeeper Harvey Hosein to keep him at the club until the end of the 2017 season.
Hosein holds the club record for the most dismissals in a first-class match when he claimed 11 on his County Championship debut against Surrey in September 2014.
The 19-year-old established himself behind the stumps last summer, making 12 first-class appearances, claiming 33 dismissals and registering his maiden fifty.
“Harvey is an exciting talent and an exceptional wicketkeeper – and we must also remember he’s only 19,” Derbyshire elite performance director Graeme Welch said.
“Since making his debut, Harvey has performed well with the gloves and continues to show improvements with the bat.
“His challenge now is to score runs on a consistent basis and contribute to winning games for the county.”
Hosein, a graduate of Derbyshire’s Academy, added: “I’m delighted to sign a new deal and commit my future to Derbyshire. “I’m now looking forward to continuing to represent the club and being part of a successful future.”
