Indian teenager Pranav Dhanawade has become the first player to score 1,000 runs in a single innings.
The 15-year-old smashed 1,009 not out off just 323 balls playing for KC Gandhi School in the Bhandari Trophy inter-school tournament.
He blasted 59 sixes and 127 fours in a knock spanning 395 minutes, allowing his side to declare on a staggering 1,465 for two.
Dhanawade’s innings – against Arya Gurukul School – helped him surpass the 628 scored by Englishman Arthur Collins in 1899.
Historical scorecards show that Collins – born in India himself – scored 628 of Clark’s House’s 836 all out against North Town at Clifton College, where a plaque remains to this day commemorating the innings.
