Half-centuries from Tom Latham and Ross Taylor led New Zealand’s response to Bangladesh’s 289 on a seesawing second day at the Hagley Oval. They came together at 47 for 2, after Kamrul Islam Rabbi had taken two wickets in two balls, and put Bangladesh back on the back foot by adding 106 at 4.41 per over, before the visitors struck back by dismissing both of them with their lead still over 100. At tea, New Zealand were 192 for 4, trailing by 97 with Henry Nicholls and Mitchell Santner at the crease.
