Summoned back into an injury-torn line-up and opening the batting for the first time in Tests, Soumya Sarkar scored his maiden half-century as Bangladesh moved to 128 for 2 after a fast-scoring first session at the Hagley Oval. At lunch, Sarkar was batting on 64 off 76 balls and had added an unbroken 90, at 5.40 per over, with Shakib Al Hasan for the third wicket.
