Mumbai Indians elected to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore, who rang in changes to the side that lost to Delhi Daredevils on Sunday, at the Wankhede Stadium.

Travis Head, the Australia batsman who impressed for Adelaide Strikers in the 2015-16 Big Bash League, was handed an IPL debut in Chris Gayle’s absence. Kane Richardson, the Australia pacer, was brought in for David Wiese, the South Africa allrounder.

Royal Challengers also included KL Rahul and Stuart Binny in place of Kedar Jadhav and Parvez Rasool in a bid to strengthen their middle order which was exposed by Daredevils. Iqbal Abdulla and Varun Aaron were handed their first game this season as Yuzvendra Chahal and S Aravind were left out.

“Chasing sides have often won, that’s been the trend here,” Rohit Sharma explained of his decision. “Dew plays a major factor too.”

Mumbai brought in Kieron Pollard for Martin Guptill. Pollard missed the previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad because of food poisoning.
