Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner chose to bat in their first home game of the season, against Kolkata Knight Riders. Sunrisers, who were forced into a change because Ashish Nehra was sidelined with a groin injury, brought in left-arm seamer Barinder Sran, a like-for-like replacement.

Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir made four changes to the side that lost against Mumbai Indians. Sunil Narine, Morne Morkel, Shakib Al Hasan and Umesh Yadav were included for John Hastings, Brad Hogg, chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav and Colin Munro.

Morkel is playing his first T20 game since August 2015, while Narine, who missed the first two games after the death of his father, last played in November 2015.

Gambhir said he wanted to bowl. “We are a decent chasing side. We play six games away from home and need to build some momentum. Hastings is injured, Hogg has food poisoning.”
