Afghanistan chose to bat v Ireland
Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan won the toss and opted to bat against Ireland in the third ODI of their five-match series in Dehradun. Mohammad Shahzad and Dawlat Zadran returned for the hosts after being rested for the second ODI, while Samiullah Shinwari replaced Gulbadin Naib. Javed Ahmadi also missed out for Afghanistan, along with Ikram Ali Khil.
After losing the first ODI, Ireland put up an improved performance with the ball before rain washed out the second game. One thing, however, they still need to work on is their fielding. William Porterfield feels that if his side can hang in for 100 overs, they can make a difference.
The wicket looks a bit dry and slow but the good news is there is no forecast of rain for the day.
