West Indies 354 and 108 for 6 (Chase 23*, Dowrich 4*, Shakib 4-25) lead Bangladesh 149 by 313 runs
Bangladesh’s bowlers again kept them hanging in the contest, this time by reducing West Indies to 108 for 6 at lunch in their second innings. The home side still has a substantial 313-run lead after the first session on the third day, but confidence would be eroded slightly as Shakib Al Hasan put them under pressure with his mixed trajectories and changes of pace.Only Roston Chase looked good when attacking the ball, and he remained unbeaten on 23 with Shane Dowrich who was on 4.
The morning belonged to Shakib who had already removed the in-form Kraigg Brathwaite on the second evening. He took three more in the first session while Taijul Islam and Abu Jayed took one each.
Brathwaite’s absence made the home side vulnerable without him defending with confidence at the other end. His opening partner Devon Smith paid the price for his tendency to walk towards the spinning ball, getting stumped off Shakib in the fourth over of the day. Nightwatchman Keemo Paul lasted 25 balls before he too got stumped off Shakib, having struck a four and a six previously. Shakib then trapped Kieran Powell lbw after he had also struck a four and a six in his 27-ball stay. Shai Hope fell leg-before too, Taijul trapping him in front of middle stump.
Chase and Shimron Hetmyer then added 33 runs for the sixth wicket before the Abu Jayed trapped Hetmyer leg-before, removing him both times in the Test.
