It is learned that SLC had told BCCI that Hasaranga has not recovered from the chronic heel pain in his left foot which had delayed his arrival to India originally. There’s been no confirmation on a replacement yet but it is understood Sunrisers have been on the lookout.
Hasaranaga, who last featured in the white-ball series in Bangladesh in March, was treated by SLC medical staff who suspected the pain concerned the musculo-skeletal apparatus in his left heel having become worn. Hasaranga was meant to travel overseas for further specialist consultation subsequently before getting the clearance from SLC to travel to IPL. Sunrisers head coach Daniel Vettori told on Thursday that Hasaranga had consulted a specialist in Dubai.
Hasaranga had a spectacular 2022 IPL season for Royal Challengers Bangalore for whom he took 26 wickets at an economy rate of 7.54. Sunrisers had paid INR 1.5 crore (approx USD $181,000) for him at the most recent auction.
