Georgia Wareham returns after two years as Bangladesh bat

TossBangladesh chose to bat vs Australia

Nigar Sultana won the toss and Bangladesh opted to bat first against Australia in their Group 1 encounter of the Women’s T20 World Cup in Gqeberha.

Australia made one change to the side that won the opener against New Zealand. Legspinner Georgia Wareham returned for her first international match since October 2021, and replaced left-arm spin-bowling allrounder Jess Jonassen.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, made a couple of tweaks to the side that went down to Sri Lanka. They brought in the experienced Rumana Ahmed for Lata Mondal. They also opted to bench seamer Jahanara Alam for a legspinner in Fahima Khatun.

Surfaces in the competition thus far have been helpful for spin. This was the first women’s international clash to be played at the St George’s Park.
