New Zealand bowl; Shakib Al Hasan returns for Bangladesh

Toss New Zealand chose to bowl vs Bangladesh

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson chose to bowl against Bangladesh in the third match of the T20I tri-series in Christchurch. The dew that came down later in his side’s loss to Pakistan in the previous game played a role in his decision. New Zealand made one change to their XI, bringing in Adam Milne for Blair Tickner. Milne will be playing his first game of cricket since he got injured during the IPL in March 2022.

Bangladesh made three changes. In came captain Shakib Al Hasan (back after being delayed due to visa issues), Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shoriful Islam and out went Sabbir Rahman, Nasum Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman.

Williamson said he would like to see his top order fire a little more in the powerplay, as compared to the game against Pakistan. His opposite number, Shakib, wanted Bangladesh to close out games better, praising Yasir Ali for his quickfire knock against Pakistan, a game which Bangladesh also lost. This means that both sides are looking for their first points in the series.

The sun was still out at toss time, but once it does set, temperatures are expected to dip into single-digits and may present a separate challenge for Bangladesh.
