England bowl first, hand ODI debut to Freya Kemp

Toss England bowl first vs India

England won the toss and opted to bowl first in the second of three ODIs against India at Canterbury.

England also made two changes, handing an ODI debut to left-armer Freya Kemp and bringing in fellow seamer Lauren Bell, replacing allrounder Alice Davidson-Richards and fast bowler Issy Wong.

Kemp, who is just 17, impressed with the bat during the T20I leg of India’s tour – which the hosts won 2-1, becoming the youngest England player, female or male, to score fifty in a T20I and the second-youngest to reach the milestone for England in international cricket during the second match in Derby.

Kate Cross, the 30-year-old seamer, is playing her 50th ODI for England ahead of the tour finale at Lord’s on Saturday.

Play was set to get underway in cool, overcast conditions.
