Pakistan 218 and 0 for 0 need 342 to beat Sri Lanka 222 and 337 (Chandimal 94*, Kusal Mendis 76, Oshada Fernando 64, Nawaz 5-88, Yasir 3-122)
Having come out essentially to get Dinesh Chandimal to his 14th Test hundred, Sri Lanka’s last-wicket pair couldn’t quite manage it. Having been 86 overnight, Chandimal faced 18 deliveries with at least eight fielders on the boundary for him. As he turned down singles to keep the strike, he could only add eight to his overnight score, with Pakistan’s quicks in operation.
Prabath Jayasuriya survived five deliveries in the morning, before Naseem Shah slipped one through his defences at the end of the fourth over of the morning.
With eight runs added to their overnight score, Sri Lanka finished on 337, and have set Pakistan a monumental 342 to win on a big-turning Galle track. Spinners have taken 20 of the 30 wickets to have fallen so far in the match.
