Captain: Mitchell Marsh
Mitchell Marsh’s phenomenal bowling spell of 2 for 14 brought Scorchers back in the game after the Strikers openers were running away in the last game scoring 50 runs in five overs. He scored an unbeaten 52* in 41 balls in his second-last game and it is not far away from an all-round performance from him in the same game.
Vice-captain: Rashid Khan
Rashid celebrated being named the ICC T20I cricketer of the decade with a 13-ball 29 and 2 for 18 against the Scorchers. He has gone wicketless only in two of his last 19 BBL appearances. Expect another all-round performance from him.
Hot Picks
Alex Carey: Carey started off the season in fine fashion with a 40-ball 55 to help his side defeat Hobart Hurricanes. However, he couldn’t carry on that form for the next couple of games. He struggled against the same opposition in the last game with a 20-ball 15. But he has a good record at the Adelaide Oval, scoring 588 runs in 18 innings at an average of 34.58 and a strike rate of 134.24
Jason Roy: Roy showed what he is capable of in the last game with a 11-ball 21. He has been in phenomenal hitting form, recording three 50-plus scores in five T20 Blast games and accumulating 206 runs at a strike rate of 131.21. In his last 15 T20Is, he has scored 301 runs at a strike rate of 152.79 in the powerplay.
Peter Siddle: Siddle is the leading wicket-taker this season with ten scalps in five games and is the only player to pick a five-wicket haul in BBL 10. He has a great record at the Adelaide Oval, picking up a staggering 30 wickets in 19 games at an average of 15.30.
Differential Picks
Jhye Richardson: Jhye Richardson has picked up six wickets in four games so far in BBL 10. He has picked up more wickets against Strikers than any other BBL team – 12 wickets in six games at an average of 13.08.
Danny Briggs: The 29-year old experienced T20 campaigner from England has played 174 T20s and has picked up 191 wickets. After a lukewarm start in BBL10 and even getting subbed out once (X-Factor), he came back beautifully with a couple of match-winning spells of 4-0-20-3 and 3-0-8-2. He scored an unbeaten 35 off 18 balls in his debut BBL game this season.
Alternate Scenarios
- Jason Roy is a high risk high reward captain’s choice for this game.
