South Africa’s return to cricket will be delayed with the 3TC competition unable to take place on June 27, as planned. Cricket South Africa is awaiting approval from the country’s department of sport and department of health. The latter also needs to green-light the event as it will be played in Centurion, one of the worst affected areas by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Because it is an activity played in a hotspot, it needs to be referred to the department of health. We will have to be delayed,” Jacques Faul, CSA’s acting CEO told ESPNcricinfo.

At this stage, CSA is unable to confirm how long the delay could last but are anticipating they will be on the field in a matter of weeks.
