Ireland chose to bowl v West Indies

William Porterfield, the Ireland captain, has opted to bowl first on a well-grassed pitch in the tri-series opener against West Indies.

Ireland have made one like-for-like change to the XI that played England in a one-off ODI on Friday, bringing in Barry McCarthy for the fast bowler Boyd Rankin.

West Indies have gone into the match with four fast bowlers, as expected, with Shannon Gabriel joining Kemar Roach, Sheldon Cottrell and the captain Jason Holder in the attack alongside the offspinner Ashley Nurse. Sunil Ambris, meanwhile, plays his first ODI since his debut in September 2017.
