Hogg: Milne’s extra pace could be useful for Mumbai

Dinesh Karthik opted to bowl at Eden Gardens, hoping to avoid conceding the season’s double over Mumbai Indians within four days. KKR have not beaten Mumbai since IPL 2015, and are looking to stop the visitors from completing an eighth straight win against them. They made two changes, adding Tom Curran and Rinku Singh into the XI, in place of Mitchell Johnson and an injured Shubman Gill.

Even Rohit Sharma said he would’ve wanted to bowl. With Mumbai only 0.075 net run-rate points behind KKR, a relatively small margin of victory would see them wrest the fourth spot away from the hosts. A KKR win, however, will create a four-point gap between the teams at positions four and five. Mumbai remained unchanged from their win on Sunday.

Before tonight, the team winning the toss has opted to bowl in all 12 matches at Eden Gardens since IPL 2017, and have won 66.67% of those games.

The two sides met less than 72 hours ago, when Hardik Pandya’s all-round effort helped hosts Mumbai complete a 13-run win.
