Wahab Riaz included in the CT17 prize winners list

According to federal government’s notification, prize distribution ceremony will be held on July 5

Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz has been included in the list of players who will receive a reward worth Rs10 million from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

According to the notification by federal government, the prize distribution ceremony will be held on July 5. Each player of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 squad will be awarded the cash prize from government.

Wahab Riaz was reported injured during the tournament opener for Pakistan. India thrashed the green shirts in that match by 124 runs. He had conceded 87 runs in his 8.4 overs against the men in blues. Young debutant Rumman Raees was included in the side, replacing the 31-year-old fast-bowler. Left-handed batsman Haris Sohail was also a part of the squad, though he didn’t play a single game in the ICC event.

The ceremony will be held in Prime Minister House. Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced a hefty prize of Rs10 million for each player after the Sarfraz XI achieved victory in Champions Trophy on June 18. They stunned India and won by 180 runs in the all-important final match of CT17.

It should be noted that PM Nawaz announced Rs5 million for each member of the team management as well.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shehryar Khan had also announced Rs 1 million cash reward for each player of the winning squad of Champions Trophy 2017. On the other hand, ICC gave $2.2 million (Rs 14.18 crore) for the winning team whereas India received a sum worth $1.1 million (Rs 7 crore) as the runner-ups of CT17.
