Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma chose to bowl for the fourth consecutive game, against Kings XI Punjab in Indore. Mumbai have not lost a game while chasing this season.
Rohit, who named an unchanged team at the toss, said he wanted to chase with the overall trend this season. In 21 games this season, 12 have been won by the chasing side.
Kings XI, who have lost three successive games after opening the season with two wins, made four changes from the side that lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous game.
Shaun Marsh, who averages 52.77 against Mumbai, and Marcus Stoinis were brought in for David Miller and Eoin Morgan, while Manan Vohra’s illness meant Gurkeerat Singh Mann was included for his first game of the season. Miller was left out of Kings XI’s team for the first time in 30 games, since April 2015. Left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh, who has played one game this season, was drafted in for KC Cariappa.
Kings XI captain Glenn Maxwell said he would have bowled first too. “Not too disappointed about batting first,” Maxwell said. “There might be some dew later, but it won’t have a big impact.”
